Top News and Magazines Apps on Android in Brazil: Q1 2022 Performance

In Q1 2022, the top five news and magazines apps on the Android platform in Brazil showed varied performance trends in weekly downloads and active users. Here's a closer look at each app's performance, based on data from Sensor Tower.

Opera News: breaking & local saw impressive growth in weekly downloads, peaking at 238K in the week of February 21. The app also maintained a consistent rise in weekly active users, reaching 659K by the end of February before stabilizing around 600K in March.

G1 Portal de Notícias da Globo experienced a significant increase in weekly downloads in early February, with a peak of 100K in the week of February 14. Weekly active users also showed a notable rise, peaking at 947K in the week of February 21, before gradually declining to 778K by the end of March.

NewsBreak: Local News & Alerts had fluctuating weekly downloads, with a high of 82K in the week of January 24. Despite the volatility in downloads, the app maintained a relatively stable number of weekly active users, hovering around 1.4M throughout the quarter.

Breaking News: Local & Alerts showed a declining trend in weekly downloads, starting at 106K in late December and dropping to around 30K by the end of March. Weekly active users also decreased from 734K to 485K over the same period.

Carros Rebaixados e Motos 2023 had a peak in weekly downloads at 48K in the first week of January but saw a significant drop to around 5K by late March. Weekly active users followed a similar trend, peaking at 78K in early March before declining to 59K by the end of the quarter.
